The six headline ingredients
Chromium picolinate
Chromium is a trace mineral that helps insulin work. The Daily Value is 35 mcg. A large review of trials found that chromium supplements, mostly at 200 to 1,000 mcg a day, produced small reductions in fasting glucose and HbA1c of uncertain importance. Olivaro supplies 0.7 mcg per ml.
Gymnema leaf
An Indian climbing plant used in Ayurveda for sugar balance. Chewing the leaf temporarily blocks the taste of sweetness. Small studies using 200 to 1,000 mg of extract a day report lower fasting glucose as an add-on to treatment, though larger trials are still needed. It can add to the effect of diabetes medicines.
African mango seed
A seed extract from West Africa used for weight management. An Oxford evidence review found only three small trials and concluded the evidence was not strong enough to recommend it.
Green tea leaf
A source of catechins and some caffeine. In pooled studies, green tea with caffeine produced a modest extra weight loss over 12 weeks.
Maca root
An Andean root usually taken for energy and libido. There is no good evidence that it affects blood sugar.
Panax ginseng aerial extract
Ginseng is a well-known adaptogen. Research on blood sugar is inconclusive, and most studies use the root, while this label lists an extract of the above-ground parts.
The rest of the blend
- Guarana seed: a natural source of caffeine.
- Coleus forskohlii, capsicum, raspberry ketones: common in weight-management blends, with little proven effect on body weight.
- Eleuthero, astragalus, grape seed: tonic herbs and an antioxidant extract.
- Grapefruit fruit extract: grapefruit can interfere with how the body processes some medicines.
- Monoammonium glycyrrhizinate: a sweet compound derived from licorice.
- Amino acids: L-glutamine, L-tyrosine, L-arginine, beta-alanine, GABA, L-ornithine, L-tryptophan and L-carnitine.
Amounts in perspective

| African mango | 300 to 3,150 mg a day | Part of a 200 mg blend |
| Green tea catechins | 140 to 1,200 mg a day | Part of a 200 mg blend |
